Did you know that the Indian mythology is replete with brother and sister stories? Some of them are quite well-known, while others not so much.
So, this Raksha Bandhan, here’s looking back at some of the most famous, and some not so well-known brother sister duos from Indian mythology:
Kansa and Devaki
This is a well-known brother sister duo. Devaki was Krishna’s birth mother and hence Kansa was his uncle.
Yamuna and Yamraj
Did you know that the God of Death and Yamuna are actually siblings and they started the tradition of Raksha Bandhan!
Subhadra and Krishna
Subhadra was Krishna’s sister and she was married to Arjuna.
Parvati and Vishnu
Parvati, who was actually Sati reborn, was adopted as his sister by Vishnu.
Krishna and Draupadi
While many accounts suggest that they were close friends, there are instances in the Mahabharata that suggest that Draupadi was Krishna’s adopted sister!
