This year saw India prospering in many sectors – from discovering various new treatment methods to achieving great heights in several sectors!  Let’s take a look, at some of the biggest achievements for us this year:


Scientist builds Cytotron Device for Cancer Treatment

The ‘Cytotron,’ device a medical invention by Dr Rajah Vijay Kumar, a Bengaluru-based scientist, stops the cancer tissue from multiplying and stops it from spreading to other organs. Honoured as a ‘breakthrough device’ in cancer care by the Centre for Devices and Radiological Health, a branch of the United States Food and Drug Administration, this device certainly sends across a ray of hope.

Our Indian Cricketers make the cut

Virat Kohli named in Wisden’s five cricketers of the decade list as well as the captain of the Wisden Test team of the decade while M.S Dhoni was named the captain of Cricket Australia’s ODI team of the decade and Kohli was named the test captain. Rohit Sharma too made the cut and was declared as the captain of the Wisden’s IPL team.

Robotic arms conduct heart surgeries

In Apollo hospitals, Bannerghatta road, Bengaluru for the first time in India, robotic arms were used to conduct cardiac surgeries for valve replacement and closure of holes in the heart. These robotic arms assisted by trained surgeons conducted cardiac surgeries on 27 patients.

The Assam government bans gutkha, pan masala

Gutkha, pan masala and other chewable tobacco products and nicotine were banned in the state for a year. The manufacture, distribution, sale, and display of these products are illegal in this state since a prohibitory order was issued by the State Commissionerate of food and safety on November 22. Cheers to a healthier life, Assam!

The largest human portrait of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar
A world record was set on the Indian Constitution Day at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee International School, Maharashtra wherein 650 students participated and created a portrait of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and ended up creating a new record on the 26th of December, 2019.
