Big B turns 77 today and we cannot help but look back at his amazing journey! Much is known about this superstar’s life, but much remains unknown as well. So on his birthday, let us take a look at some lesser known facts about his life.
There are many interesting aspects to this star’s life. Let’s take a look at some factors which haven’t been talked about much:
Veteran Actor Utpal Dutt was Amitabh Bachchan’s co-star in his debut film – Saat Hindustani, released in 1969.
It was also in the same year that Amitabh lent his voice to Mrinal Sen’s Bhuvan Shome. Much later in 1977, he again lent his voice to Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khilari. And to think, he was once rejected by All India Radio for having a baritone voice!
What do you think the Big B wanted to become if not an actor? He wanted to join the Air Force!
He spent quite a few years of life working at a firm in Kolkata, before moving back to Mumbai and trying his hand at acting.
Once during an interview, Amitabh confessed to have been the butt of much ridicule during his initial days because of his lanky figure and looks, but it was his father, late Harivansh Rai Bachchan who had motivated him to stay focused.
Speaking of his father, Amitabh comes from a family of not Bachchans but Shrivastavas. It is his family name, but later they adopted the surname Bachchan, which was used by his father as a pen name.
Having delivered many successes with him, Amitabh’s favourite co-star was none other than the enigmatic late Shashi Kapoor.
Till date, Bachchan continues to be the Bollywood actor with the highest number of double roles in his kitty!
