On the 17th of April, 2011, HBO launched a series, which caught the attention of many. Its popularity spread with the force of a raging fire, while the breaks between each season, made the fans wait through a period of ice. Yes, you know what we are talking about – none other than the epic Television series – Game of Thrones. Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s famous series, A Song of Ice and Fire, this is one of the most popular television series of all times.
As the series drew to a close on the 19th of May, 2019, here’s taking a walk down memory lane about the most iconic moments of GOT:
Ned’s surprise beheading
Ned Stark had been gathering quite the fan following throughout season 1, only bam! Episode 9, Season 1, left us all shocked and baffled, when instead of a pardon, Ned was beheaded in King’s Landing. This moment, literally, changed the course of the series.
The more than iconic Red Wedding
Whether or not you are a GOT fan, the Red Wedding is something you cannot miss. Episode 9 of Season 3, saw a wedding celebration turn into a blood bath, when Robb and Kat Stark along with their allies and mates are murdered.
The Rise of the Breaker of Chains
Episode 4 of Season 3 shows Dany emerging as the Breaker of Chains, when she frees the unsullied from their slave masters, gets back her dragon that she had traded and well basically establishes her supremacy. And those who hadn’t already fallen in love with her, surely did after that episode.
Arya takes her revenge on Little Finger
Season 7 came with its drastic turns and episode 7 was a one was a particular favourite, when Arya takes her revenge on Little Finger. His execution in a full court, was indeed one of the moments to remember for those who supported the Starks throughout.
It’s all about the siblings
Season 8 came with its touching moments of love as well, apart from the carnage that it showcased. The moment where Jon and Arya reunite after so many years talks of a beautiful relationship that stood the test of time. The conversation of Jaime and Tyrion as well in Winterfell is something that takes us back to Season 1!
These are just some of our favorites from the GOT journey. Which are yours?
